New certification is required for all home improvement activity that disturbs more than 6 square feet of interior, or 20 square feet of exterior in housing built before 1978, and in any child-occupied facility.
Did the EPA delay the Lead RRP Rule?
The short answer to this is, "No." The EPA's latest memo, which you can read in full here does NOT delay the implementation of lead-safe work practices and record-keeping. The delay applies to the enforcement of certifications--firms that are not yet certified with the EPA now have until Oct. 1, 2010, and individuals who have not received training must be enrolled in a class by Sept. 30, 2010 and complete training by Dec. 31, 2010.
